01-Gold-RS.jpg Gold-plated Relays & Switches
The signal from the pickups of an electric guitar or bass is so weak that poor-quality cables, cold joints and cheap contact materials ruin your sound. Switch contacts need to be made of special materials to permit loss-free switching of these low-level signals. All Lehle switchers feature special relays and slide switches with gold-plated contacts for totally reliable, absolutely zero-loss switching.
02-4-band-EQ-double-parametric-mids.jpg 4-band EQ with double semi-parametric mids
An EQ is primarily intended to raise particularly desirable frequencies in a sound spectrum as well as filtering out the undesired ones. By semi-parametric filtering, and the division in HM for high and LM for low mids, a very individual and precise adjustment of the sound is possible.
The T-knob, a so-called shelving filter, controls the heights, the B-controller is responsible for the basses. The center frequency is selected with HF and LF and with HM and LM you can determine the intensity. Thus these frequencies can be raised or lowered in a bell-shaped curve.
03-18V.jpg Voltage Internally Doubled to 18V
To exploit the dynamics of tube amplifiers to the full, the input voltage of Lehle products bearing this symbol is rectified from the power supply socket, then filtered, stabilized and doubled to 18V.
05-Gain.jpg Adjustable Gain
Adjustment of volume or distortion using a gain controller is a vital feature in many situations. The gain controllers on the corresponding Lehle products feature black anodized aluminium knobs set back into the housing so that they can be easily fingertip rotated but keep their settings during performances and transportation.
08-LTMZ.jpg Lehle LTMZ Transfomer
The Lehle LTMZ transformer allows the galvanic isolation at the DI output. Only real physical galvanic isolation guarantees complete elimination of ground hum and annoying background noises in any live or studio situation. The Lehle LTMZ transformer also offers a high level of safety as it isolates from voltage peaks of up to 2000V - without loosing any tone!
09-XLR.jpg XLR Output
Equipped with a standard male XLR-socket with gold plated contacts for balanced output.
The concept for this "swiss army knife for bassplayers" comes from Jacques Ruppert, head of RMI, while the technical part was realized here at Lehle. As a central controller for bass setups it is equipped with a number or features:
  • Lehle True Sound Technology
  • Input A/B switch with impedance matching for piezo pickups
  • Studiograde preamp
  • 4-band EQ with double semiparametric mids
  • switchable effectsloop with blend/mix control
  • switchable effectsloop can also be used as volume boost
  • serial effectsloop (non switchable)
  • Studiograde D.I.-box with Pad-, Pre/Post- und groundlift-switch incl Lehle LTMZ transformer for galvanic isolation
  • can be used with any power supply 9 to 20 volt AC oder DC
  • additonal output for tuner
  • muteswitch
  • extremly robust design with protected controls
The Basswitch IQ DI is manufactured by Lehle in Germany on behalf of RMI.

Basswitch IQ DI
I also have to say that this EQ section is quite possibly the best sounding and most musical EQ that I have ever heard on a bass preamp... The common cliché would be to say that the Basswitch is built like a tank – but with all the attention to detail and the high level performance, I think it is more aptly compared to a BMW or Mercedes Benz!

A Technical Look
For many bass players, Basswitch IQ DI may just be a musthave accessory. The EQ is flexible, the routing and two available loops provide options galore, the ability to convert the parallel loop into a boost function is useful and practically implemented, and the transformer isolated DI provides a full featured routing to the mixer ... On the whole, though, the Basswitch IQ DI is an impressive technical accomplishment.

Problems were yesterday
The Ruppert/Lehle Basswitch offers a never-seen-before combination of high quality A/B swithcer , effects looper (with parallel as well as a serial mono effectsloop), preamp and DI box in stompbox format.
This is so far the most efficient multitool for bassists who care about loss free sound transmission, high soundquality, indestructable construction, high reliability and simple operation. From now on this is going to be a constant companion in my gigbag, because it makes my life easier in all situations.

Razorsharp witchcraft
The Basswitch IQ DI sets new references. It resembles the perfect alliance between studio and stage equipment. Soundquality, switching options and detailed solutions are beyond any doubt. Considering all this the price is almost ridiculous.

Allround Soundtool
In a word, in my opinion this is a high-end bass-preamp in a gigbag-friendly pedal, and I have to admit that bassplayers who think highly of their sound won’t find so many practice-oriented features elsewhere – not even in certain bass-preamps by other renowned manufacturers. To this extent the Basswitch IQ DI truly has no competitors for the time being.

Another Lehle unit is coming to use for my bass recordings, but it is also the basis of my setup for live scenarios : the brandnew Basswitch IQ DI.
A simply genius thing. On the one hand it works as an A/B switcher, that allows me to switch between 2 basses (also high-impedance signals like in a upright piezo pickups).
Channel B offers a realy great sounding preamp with parametric eq. Furthermore the Basswitch works as a looper with continously variably adjustable and mixable effectsloop, real clean booster and top class DI box. What I have come to value during tours, is now being used constantly in my studio.

Bass-amplification, Basswitch IQ DI, Bass preamp and central controller.
Either as a hich-class soundaministration and preamp on your pedalboard or as a recording tool in the studio - the Basswitch IQ DI scores with a sparkling clean signal quality with a very defined but likewise strong EQ and useful extrafeatures...

Basswitch IQ DI
The statement ‘the new reference’ is pretty big, but the product, which is in front of the pedal geek, really earns it! Per definition a ‘reference’ is a certain level of performance that sets the standard for everyone else. And this standard is very high!
